The W.D. Sykes Historical Museum is located between Church St. and Cedar St. in the Brandon/Sykes Showboat House. Parking is behind the house off Cedar St. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 10:00-5:00 Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday and 1:00-5:00 Sunday. The rich heritage of Stewart County people is portrayed in artifacts, stories and photos. Docents offer interpretation and interesting tidbits.  Volunteers are needed to keep the Museum open.  Please call Betsy Martin Tumelson at 232-5487 if you can help or you may call the Museum, 232-9773, during operating hours. Meetings are held at the Museum the fourth Tuesday evening of each month except December and January at 7:00 p.m. and feature guest speakers and other  programs.   Bring something old and tell us about it!  Visitors are always welcome!  All programs and museum admission are free of charge unless otherwise indicated.    Plans for 2008, dates to be announced:  Museum Committee:  Local Folk Artist, folk art and poetry;  Civil War Room; The Girl Scouts' Staging a Heritage Room; Tennessee Iron Industry: The Stewart County Story  For More Information about these events or the Stewart County Historical Society, you may call the Museum at (931) 232-9773.
